About Us

Damon Bryan

Founder and Director

Damon Bryan, LMFT, is a creative and well-rounded clinician with over 20 years of experience. He is the owner of Sage Canyon Counseling and co-founder and President of Sage Canyon Autism Foundation, where he channels his clinical expertise and lived experience as a dad of two neurodivergent kids into building community for autistic individuals and their families. He has worked in outpatient and residential settings, wilderness programs, and therapeutic boarding schools. Damon specializes in working with clients who have experienced trauma, higher-support-needs clients with developmental delays, and adolescent females exhibiting borderline personality traits. He brings a neurodivergent-affirming approach to his work with autistic individuals and their families; the same philosophy that drives the foundation’s mission.

After earning his undergraduate degree at Michigan State University, Damon continued his education at the University of Rhode Island, graduating with a master’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a focus on Marriage and Family Therapy. He is an Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist (ASDCS), trained in EMDR, DBT, ART, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and Sand Tray Therapy, and has completed his AAMFT Approved Supervisor course.

Damon loves to spend time with his wife, daughter, and son. He is an avid outdoorsman and runner who will run “everything from a 5K to a 50K.” He also enjoys skiing and snowboarding in the winter, mountain biking in the summer, and being outdoors all year round.

Tarah Neujahr Bryan

Co-founder | Assistant Director | Yoga Teacher

Tarah Neujahr Bryan is a Chief Marketing Officer by day and a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200, RCYT) with a trauma-informed specialization by every other hour. She was named Silicon Slopes CMO of the Year in 2022 and has spent her career bridging communications strategy with community impact; pro-bono work for American Cancer Society and Wings Cancer Foundation, award-winning volunteer service with Intermountain Therapy Animals, and board leadership with Utah HIMSS and Rotary Club.

Along with her husband, Damon, she co-founded Sage Canyon Autism Foundation and serves as Vice President. The foundation’s flagship program, Autism Outdoors Utah, is where she leads hikes, paddleboarding, yoga, and retreats for neurodivergent families. She also teaches private, trauma-informed yoga through Sage Canyon Counseling, her husband’s therapy practice. She’s a mom of two neurodivergent kids (her son is non-verbal and autistic; her daughter is ADHD) and finds her steadiest ground in nature; trails, open sky, dirt under her feet, and snow under a board or skis. She draws on her mindfulness practice and study of Buddhism to hold space for regulation and presence. When she’s not outside (or up at the family cabin), she’s probably reading.

A bit more about the program:

Autism Outdoors Utah is the flagship program of Sage Canyon Autism Foundation, a Utah-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing support and services that enhance and empower the lives of autistic individuals and their families. Our mission centers on autism-affirming support, equity and accessibility, and building genuine community connections.

Through Autism Outdoors Utah, we offer free and low-cost outdoor activities for autistic kids, teens, adults, and family members; reducing barriers to outdoor recreation, creating inclusive experiences, and fostering a sense of belonging. Our events are made possible through the generosity of donors and sponsors.
